Mirrored object not editable

Hello everyone, I am new to Zbrush and I have encountered a problem when mirroring an object. I have crerated an ear and mirrored that using Zcplugin - Mirror. The ear was mirrored, but the mirrored one (that was newly created using the command) will not edit. Even though it sits on the same “layer” as the original ear, it is greyed out and also its real color is more dark. I can only edit / move the original ear, but not the one that I have created. The new one will not do anything. Could you please advise how to make it work?

Thank you so much!

Hi @Tomasss ,

You have me at a disadvantage. Im not familiar with which plugin you’re referring to or the results it produces. If it didn’t come installed with ZBrush, it’s probably not something we made or support.

The term “layer” refers to a specific feature in ZBrush, but I suspect you are actually referring to “subtools”. A picture would be useful here, but what you describe is the way a mesh would look if it were masked.
https://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/modeling-basics/masking/

If a mesh is masked it will be darker in appearance and resist most changes until it is unmasked.

If the mirrored mesh is masked, then you can clear that mask by Ctrl dragging then releasing in empty canvas space, or by using Tool> Mask> Clear. If that causes the mesh to become lighter in color then you probably just had some masking applied for whatever reason.

Otherwise we would need to get a look at the situation to give you further advice.
