The cheeks don’t look quite right.

The lips need more work and the wrinkles in the lips need to be more subtle .

The ears need more work, they need to blend in to head more where the ear meets the cheeks.

The back of the head looks wrong, it needs bringing forward and so does the forehead.

The eyes need to be more pinched in the corners.

thanks will start correcting tomorrow its all part of a full character which i need to finish, this is my first human form based character and i am using one of the tutorials from digital tutors to create the character

I love some of the work you have created, especially the centaur just out of interest do you work for a games company?

Hi Widdzy

Sorry if my last reply was a little harsh, but you know just keep practising

Also don’t do any fine detail till the very end, work the hell out of each sub div before you move up to the next sub div.

I am looking forward to seeing you progress

Thank you for your kind words on my centaur. No I do not work for a games company, I have just this month graduated from university and now looking for a job in the games industry

nice one

I dont mean to be harsh either, but its the only way to improve. I am in no way a phenominal artist but sculpting a head is very difficult because its soo easy to pick out issues in a model, I mean we are soo familiar with the human body that you need to be very accurate and precise.

Like said before the lips need a ton of work. They do not blend into the head at the corners but feel like they were put on like a mr potatoe head. The overall shape of the ears is ok, but the placement really needs to be worked, there is no blending between the ear and the head.

The clavical doesnt run correctly into the shoulder it is sort of half done.

I would really go to your base mesh and rework the overall shape of the cranium and jaw/chin area. The jaw line looks like it starts going back correctly but then it starts making this weird J type shape when it reaches the ear.

I think there needs to be a bit more of a temple then you have right now.

If you are going for an African American man then the nose is a bit more correct but if this is a caucasian individual I’d say the nose is pretty wide to me.

Its hard at times when you start working on something and really get into it, but really step back and look at it, youll be able to see all these issues that we are pointing out.

this is my V2 of the head

definite improvement

the things that strike straight away is the wrinkles on the corners of the eyes need smoothing down and redone, and the corners of the lips need a touch up and looking at the side view bring his top lip out slightly

I think the final product of the head looks very good considering its the first humanoid figure I have created.

I think you’re jumping to texturing and polypainting waaayyyy too early man. It looks alright, but there is a ton of work that needs to be done before you try pores, beard, skin color etc.

The most glaring thing that immediately jumps out is he has HUGE ears, almost cartoon ears. Also, you need to constantly rotate your model because while the ear detailing looks really nice from the side view, from the front it just looks like two holes in the side of his head. Take a second look at the sternocleidomastoid also, which is what your character has coming from his chin for some reason lol.

The best thing you could do is just google search for faces similar to the character you are trying to portray, study how prominently or subtly their muscles are visible, broad proportions etc and compare them to your model.

It’s looking better, but you should definitely put in a lot more work before painting :+1:
