Coolest Thing I’ve ever seen.
I freak out when I see people touching their computer screens … I actually winced when they put drinks on those tables. Cool indeed, but I think I’d need a course in aversion therapy before I could use one.

Have I got a group for you.

Sounds like a gimmick more than a usable product that you’d use regularly tho. But Wouldn’t it be great to use it with Zbrush? You could just mold your tools with your hands and stretching them, pushing, pulling, pinching.
Now that I think about it, to a staranger, it’d look like you’re massaging a table. (and they’d give you one of those L@@K)
I wonder if someone at Pixologic has already run ZB on one of these things…hmmmm…
I’ll say the same thing I always say about the Cintiq
I don’t want my hands in the way of what I’m doing!
plus wouldn’t you have to clean that screen constantly?
I saw one in action in the Emerging Technologies section at SIGGRAPH this year. It showed a lot of potential for commercial use, especially. For example, used as a bar table it could allow you to order your drinks and then keep track of who had what, split the tab how you want, and ultimately pay by just putting your card on the table. In a cellular store, you could compare phones by putting them on the table and getting detailed info.
It’s definitely a young technology. But I think over time it’ll become pretty pervasive.
Public, Commercial uses like that sound pretty compelling, actually
I just cant see it replacing my PC
If it was at sort of a drawing board angle it would be better for long term use. I can forsee many bad necks and backs from extended use of surface otherwise.
For commercial applications I can see it taking off at some future point as point of sale etc… not realy as a PC replacement.
Wayne…
