Michaelangelo : David

Hello,

Since I used Zbrush from start to model statue, so I’m gonna post in here .

The orthograph picture in zbrush:

and here are the test renders to make sure I get the correct perspective dissortion (lower res mesh to fast thing up):

The mesh polycount is 750k in zbrush, but somehow it translates into 1.5mil in 3dmax

The model was started from the head and then I used edge loop to expand the mesh. I had to do that because I wasnt going to make full body at first

proggress pic:

maybe I’m gonna texture it a bit before I’m done with it

Hope you like it

…this is art, man…
(succesfully presented on CGT too)
just great:+1:

Gorgeous David copy! I only think, that his left leg is a bit bended too much. Anyway it’s great work.

your work flow is totally crazy !! Had to be hard adding geometry to a high poly model :stuck_out_tongue: 5 stars :]

I think the only thing that gives it away is the hair. Other than that, it’s pretty difficult to distinguish it from a photograph!

Great modeling.

insane

Absolutely outstanding work.

Five stars from me.

Paul.

Classical modeling indeed

"to call it great"would be an understatement !..but your base(head) looks so detailed as your steps in the edge-loops expansion ? did you use ZBrush in-between steps ?

jantim

No words worthy of this… :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

This is fantastic , very close to the original. I feel mat finish will look better.

Great work from the hand you posted awhile back!

your model is simply amazing =)

hello,

thank you for the complements, I really appreciated it

Abyssis - hehe, your the one from cgtalk right? thx

slocik - well, I did the edge loops on the lower lv mesh…it’s not that hard actually, but if you made mistake than your screwed :stuck_out_tongue:

jantim - actually I used the base head from the one I made a while back, started from natalie then keira, jude law then david. Thats why its quite dense, it even have the mouth hole. I used zspheres to make the head

Jason Belec - The hand? I think that wasnt me :stuck_out_tongue:

Dear Max,
Congratulations on your unbelievable success.
The mesh is a beauty, it is.

Only I miss how you could make it stating from the head downwards.

Could you describe your edge loop technic, please. Oh where I may read it.

With admiration,
Anatom.

Great job. Only criticism would be that your head seems longer than the original (from front to back), and your neck is a little shorter too. Things like the muscles between the top of the arm and the shoulder not being as tight are really nit picking.
Sweet, good study.

I think you used editable mesh in max and you got 1.5 mill triangles. if you convert to editable poly you should get 750000 polys.

Looks awesome. I think his Big-Toe on the left foot is a little bit too big, especially in the perspective renders when compared to the original. Thats the only problem I can really spot right now though. I’ve been meaning to try something like this for a while now, seems like a great practice.

PS. I think the reason it is 750K in Zbrush and 1.5M in Max, is because Zbrush is counting the quads, and Max is counting the triangles.

really perfect work!! amazing!!
congratulations!!
