Is there any way to lock the position of a mesh on one layer while you work on another layer? I am working on a skull and am using the 4r7 grid of a skull found in Lightbox. As I work I have noticed that every time I open my saved tool I need to reposition and resize before I start to work and as I work. The main part of the skull is done to the point of now working on the teeth on a new layer. Things in the other layers will move, Grrrrr!!! Any ideas or work arounds?
Layers? You might want to have the skull as one subtool, the jaw as another etc.
They all are the funny thing is you would think that if I was working on one layer other layers would stay in place.
That isn’t how this software works. Knowing the UI is a big chunk of it. I posted some files. Reading is also good.
You lost me on that one.
Mad? Trying to help Not sure what your background was before ZBrush. It’s a different kind of animal
You are always viewing from the camera. Subtools remain relative to each other. Scale on the right in default UI is sort of like zooming in(it’s not zoom though, that’s above) Something for view alignment helps. (I posted files for the UI for a bunch including that and another person has the Axis Plug which is considerably more versatile, it has many more choices)
Not Mad I have no idea what you are talking about and why would zooming in on thing change anything? What is UI? and Scale on the right is default UI? Again what? However a right answer you give may be it don’t help it it goes over my head. Other softwares don’t seem to size adjust or fail to save projects just as I left them.
You didn’t answer what you’d used before. UI>> User Interface(screen with windows, dialogs and buttons where you ‘use’ the program. Poor UI design leads to user difficulty and dissatisfaction. http://www.hcibib.org/sam/2.html
The Default …I have never done anything with the users interface in zbrush I am aware that I can adjust things as I like but since I have not used other peoples setup or even know what is the best way to work I never looked to it. I can’t say or know how that changes things. I would thing a tool would work in one spot as well as another. I did I did get the file of StartUP Macros from the link you have given and placed them. Opened file of skull now elements stay together but size is off. Sorry still lost
I meant what other software programs have you used. Hard to help when there’s nothing to compare the operation or experience to. You’ll need to make sure that the files are all in the right places. Some of the files in that original download have been replaced with newer versions in the following posts
Modeler LightWave
Sliders on left of my interface are the same ones as in the Deformation panel. I’ve never used the program you mentioned. Maybe someone who has used it can be more helpful. You may never have even heard of trueSpace…
