Mesh is displayed with too high polycout for its subdivision level

I have a problem with mesh display resolution. I first made and exported a base mesh with circa 12k vertices. Then I added 6 subdivision levels and sculpted on them. I noticed (not sure when) that all subdivision levels show too dense meshes. For example, on 1. subdivision level, there are supposedly circa 12k active points, but the mesh is at least twice as dense (the wireframe on the second picture is the right density, but there is more geometry in between).

But when I hide any part of the mesh, it displays the correct resolution (polycount) mesh.

If someone knows how could I fix this problem, please let me know. Just to let you know, I’m pretty sure it’s not my Display Properties settings.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you. For some reason, I just couldn’t find the answer.
