Mesh getting distorted?

Hi,

I’m having a weird problem I hope someone can help me out with.

Picture A is the model I created, it’s a subtool(1 out of many). Picture B shows what happens whenever I try to move/rotate/scale or modify it in any way. It gets all distorted. All my other subtools behave normally, so I’m guessing I hit some key or setting on accident.

The subtool has no mask, I made sure to clear it… I’m really clueless as to what it could be. It’s as if some vertices are sticking in place while others are moving.

Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to correct it?

What version of ZBrush? I noticed that you have checked for masking.

I’m using the latest, Zbrush 4R4.

I should also say, that when I do a BPR render, it also looks all messed up(this is from doing a BPR of picture A above):

4R4 P2 is the latest version.

Ah thanks for that I didnt’ notice. I updated now

So I backtracked a bit and found when it starts to happen exactly… my model has branches that I used insert mesh to put the flowers on. I wanted to isolate the flowers so I can scale a few individually, so I tried splitting the branches/flowers into new subtools… and that’s when the distortion happened. I also tried keeping them a part of the same original subtool, just hiding the branches, but it still happens. Also if I hide the flowers and edit the branches, the branches do not get distorted like the flowers do.

If I keep both flowers and branches visible(still being together as the same subtool), the distortion does NOT happen, it all works normally.

The thing is I have another subtool with flowers/branches that this does not happen to. So maybe some setting with the insertmesh?

When you use insert, it masks the tool you’re working with. So you probably still have some masked parts.

I’ve cleared the mask tons of times(ctrl+shift+a), pressed the clear mask button, AND dragged on the screen to clear it…so unless there’s something somehow that’s not clearing, it’s gotta be clear.

have you tried exporting on the mesh and reimporting?
