Merge 3D Layers

This seems like a pretty n00b question, but I did a search and didn’t find anything. In 3D Layers, there isn’t a way to merge layers is there? Merge selected, or merge visible or something? Just something to reduce the memory imprint of the tool, and to help me consolidate layers that I’m committed to. Thanks.

There is a way to do the merge.

  1. Select the layer to be merged and click the Tool>Layer>Make 3D button. You may need to adjust the sliders a bit to get a great quality SubTool.
  2. Hide, then delete the layer and select the one that you want to merge into.
  3. Click Tool>SubTool>Project All. This will transfer the sculpting from the SubTool that you just created, adding it to the layer that you have selected.
  4. Delete the now unneeded SubTool.
Done!

You got an answer for everything, doncha buddy?

Am I missing something?

But isn’t a layer merged automatically when you delete it?. And if you want to delete a layer without merging it then you simply hide it first?.

The deleted layer is merged into the main model; not into another layer.

Ah! I see now…
