Hey everybody, it’s been awhile, but I thought I’d start a sketchbook. All of this is hobby for me so it won’t be updated regularly, but I’d thought I’d start one anyway. Maybe it will help me to produce more, who knows… Here is a WIP I’ve got going on. It’s the Good Magician Humfrey from Piers Anthony’s Xanth novels. Any suggestions would be great as I’m still toying with him!
update: added a few more details like wrinkles and such. also tried to make him a little grumpier looking…

cool work
Quick shader test.
Another test from a better angle. Eventually I’m going to have him poring over a tome by candle light, so this is kind of a lighting test also… Still, any critiques would be great!

amazing … i wish i can render like that
thanks guys, and Alnaqbi, don’t worry man. practice makes perfect and your sketchbook shows a lot of improvement. plus I’m still figuring things out myself.
Alright, pretty sure I’m done with the shader and the lighting setup is pretty close.
Solid sculpting work and lighting done on him…Great character in his character also…
oi, this gonna to be good!
very nice face sculpting.
thanks guys!
Alright, sculpting and skin shader is finished. I just need to make a few tweaks to the textures, but that will be easy… All pics straight out of Max Render viewport window. Next, his clothes, which will be difficult for me…

nice female, can u show me the pure body as well?
One lil hint, the head is waaaay too smal.
avatar for facebook:lol:
Thanks for the tip max! I made the body a little smaller and did a pure body character sheet for you to look at. I’m not finished with her as I see some anatomy issues that are bothering me, such as the arms and legs being too thin for taste. But any more crits would be awesome!
Alright, mas Humfrey…
wanted a thumbnail up front…

ok, so I know that the Santa Monica Lunch Crunch won’t let anybody join their gang, with good reason probably, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t use their themes and do our own right? Here’s Spider-Man 2099 done in an hour. Simple, but this is just fun and practice for me!
