Well It’s my third project and this time I decided to set myself a propper brief I thought for a while about a creature that really affected me as a kid It basically came down to Kong and this bitch! lol I’m not up to speed regarding fur so the Gorgon won No contest!!!
I was going to try for a faithful Harryhausen look but in the end decided to do my own thing (snake body inspired by the master of course) as Z-brush is capable of such detail I probably wouldn’t be able to help myself going texture mental so here goes…
I started building a basic frame in Z-Spheres, getting the lengths and widths and rough pose I wanted by flicking from Edit, Scale and Rotate
Then stupidly or maybee with beginners bad luck saved the file as a document and found I couldn’t re-edit it when I loaded it back up so had to start from scratch but this time saved it as a Tool! and think it was a better 2nd time anyway!
That’s a tip for any Z-SPhere novices -
SAVE YOUR Z-SPHERE MODEL AS A TOOL!!!
Anyway,
somehow managed to skin it and add enough bulk to make it workable in clay, then I spent a couple more hours throwing on some form and texture.
My aim is to model and paint her up and then model the various snakes to comp together later ( I tried to Z-sphere the snakes onto her head but couldnt get them thin enough!?)
and then somehow get her integrated into a suitable scene so I’ll keep you posted on my progress
Help, coments or queries welcome as always, lovin every second although It’s daunting how much there is to grasp it’s a hell of a lot of fun learning!
Keep Z-ing
