For all maya -> zbrush users this is a question for you. When working with a maya object, what are the steps that are needed to follow in order to make it “editable” in z-brush? Some of you might say "Export the object as a obj. file, but before you go any futhur, another question. When in File>Export all, or File>Export selection, it does not give the selection of exporting the model as a obj. file. It only allows you to export is as a mb.(maya binary) , ma. (maya Ascii), or .mov (move). There is no obj. selection. So in numerical order, can some one please tell me how to export a obj. in maya to z-brush. Or another way to export the model to z-brush.

(Sorry for being so proper, but I just feel like being proper right now  )

And while we’re on that topic, can some one also tell me how to export back to maya? Because the only “exports” I found were alpha map exports and image exports. Or if any of you are nice engouh, can you just tell me how to export from maya to zbrush, then back?

That would be of great honor of such kind gentalman/ gentalwoman. :qu:

Stopot

For Maya to export OBJ you need to activate the export library:

Window>Settings/Preferences>Plug-in Manager>
from the path containing the plug-ins click the checkboxes for objExport.lib (loaded and auto-load).

Same prcedure if you want to activate IGES or DWG support for other uses

Cheers
