MAX7 OBJ UV trouble

Hi,
So I’ve been banging my head on my monitor with this one. I’m currently trying to export a mesh from Max7 to Zbrush as Quads. I have been unsuccessful in doing this. Every time I import an OBJ that has been flagged to export QUADS it comes in with the UV coordinates severly damaged. I’m attaching an image which pretty much shows the before-from max- to what it looks like upon importing into Zbrush as well as my exporter settings.

I would greatly appreciate anyones help with this problem as I’ve exhausted all of my own resources and noone seems to know what the issue is.

I can however import the object as TRI’s and not damage the UV’s but modelling tri’ models is just not going to give me the ability to do clean lines-

Have you tried a different “Group By:” option? According to the Help File under Limitations: “All objects are converted to triangles (triObjects)” . There is also a newer version of Max2Obj for Max 6 (and 7 I guess) available at http://www.habware.at/duck6.htm.

I’m using the latest exporter I believe- you can see it in the image file- it’s v.06

But the one at Habware is dated Nov. 5th 2003. Yours is Jul. 29th 2003.

Just so you know, I do not use or have access to 3D Studio Max, so I am just guessing. AFAIK the Max2Obj plugin worked fine in 3DSMAX ver. 5 and 6.

I got some good feedback- the solution is to reset the xform- create another object- attach your mesh to that object then delete the new object it- export to obj

I was able to get my quad’ed dude into zbrush and working on him is 10x better.
