Max out your poly count

Hi everyone,

I’m sure most of you have already figured this out…but for those who havn’t…This is useful in helping you plan how many polys your base mesh should have. You can use it to figure out how many polys your mesh will have at any given subd level, so you get the maximum polys your computer can handle instead of being stuck with a lowish maximum poly count.

nice…or a base of 2930 polygons gets you 5 subdivisions, and 3000320 polys

I have a model with over 5 mill… though I think it’s far more a problem than bragging rights… I got it this high by many “edge loops” in detail areas then 9 sub divs… Needless to say, it’s sloooowww on the rotation

Hi Guys,

Thats my point…if you have already created a model use the simple formula to find out how many polys you will have at a given subd level, just change n to be the number of times that you hit the divide button.

… Needless to say, it’s sloooowww on the rotation

if you find your computer doesn’t handle 5million polys very well then try 4million use the formula to plan ahead:)
