This is cute.
Every year in New York and other major cities, Maya has a show
to exhibit their program. It is a fantastic event with good food and
talented people. I am supposing the Pixologic meetings are probably
the same.( underline supposing, live in New York, alas)
If you have been out of touch, Maya and Max are now owned by the same
company Autodesk. Also this year, both Maya and Max have come out with
new versions Maya 8 and Max 9.
Tonight, October 17, they had the show.
If I were to try to buy another program now, I would find myself sleeping
in the streets. However the shows interest me and I was curious to find out
how they would treat the presentation.
The site ( the Alvin Ailey Theater) was a fantastic place, the food in the entrance was less than usual ( more cheese and grapes, first sign of econony).
Then we were led into the theater, two gentleman sat side by side.
I immediately recognized the Maya guy from other shows, named Daryl,
he was seated next to another gentleman named Sean.
For the first half hour a great group of movie trailers, commercials and product illustrations involving the programs were shown. ( Is there any program that wasn’t involved in the Pirates movie?).
Then we were given a brief overview of each program by the above named
gentleman. Each was very honest and said he did not know how the other
guys program worked, but said he liked it.
At a certain point, I being a Maya kid, was losing interest in the Max parts.
I would imagine my counterpart was having the same thoughts with Maya.
Then.
The announcement was made.
“Will all those using Max please stand up.”
At this point I felt sorry for the Max kids, to be singled out in a large
room. For what? Execution? You could see the hesitantcy in the way they
stood up, but stand bravely they did.
“Follow that girl”.
They were than taken to another room with the Max guy, while we stayed
with the Maya guy.
If this show plays in your town, go, and do not be afraid to stand.
A fast ps and this was ingenious, they gave you a plain shirt.
They passed out two decals to paste on it, one maya and one max.
Being a son of a bitch I am pasting on both.
