Material for texture!

Hi all, probably it’s easy for you, but not for me:mad:
I’ve made this model and applied a texture; it’s seems to be with no cast shadow, the same model with the same material in the same scene is ok.
Wich material i need to use to avoid this?( my settings are right in the light setup).

there does appear to be shadows there tho, just a little washed out.

Anyways, there’s a few things you can do to increase contrast in the render.

-on your lights, set the ambient sliders down to 0.
-for your shadow casting light, turn zmode on, blur to 0, apeture to 1, rays to 1, intensity to 100, and length highish (say 70 to start with, it’ll change depending on the scale of your model
-in the material, turn ambient down to 0, diffuse to 100

This should give you a very high-contrast render to start with, with very black shadows. I find it easier to start with this, then tweak values one at a time to get the results your after. In fact, it can usually be a better idea to get as wide a range of darks-to-lights in your render without clipping, then adjust afterwards in photoshop. You can do the same with the adjustments menu in zbrush, if you want to do it all in the one package.

Things that you’ll probably want to immediately tweak will be shadow length, tweak it until shadows fall the way you expect on your scene. Then increase the rays and apeture to get soft edges on your shadows, and then shadow blur to remove jagged edges.

Increase the ambient value if you want, but you’ll get a more interesting looking render if you use low-intensity lights to fill in the dark regions. The ambient settings in both the material and light sections tend to wash out the render considerably.

…just use the material “Fast Shader”

Hi all,
thx for reply.
Just like said in another forum, i’ve tried all the modality and setup light or material.
The tips of Frenchy(thanks) is just used from me.
I’ve notice when you work in high res, often you obtein crazy situation.(mesh disappear or "explode, loss of detail…)
It’s very simple my question, but i’ve no good results.
There are some many situation which change the final result;
Like an example:the use of MMarker tool.
If i change resolution or texture i see big and strange change…:qu:
Often the workflow in Zbrush is not very linear…
Probably this is the time.
No problem i’ll paint the shadow myself;)

P.S. If i remember correct for the Frenchy example, the flat material don’t allow the cast shadow, it’s another strange thingh.:ex:
