Well I promised I would make a Turian after my Salarian, A tribute to the best game ever (Mass Effect 2) so here it goes.
Past 3 days, a few hours each day:
Day 1: 30 mins
I have yet to do the eyes and maybe make the bump better. Then possible make the torso and do a portrait render.
Thats an awesome looking turian, that game has so many species the possibilities are endless. I’m gonna try my hand at some geth. How do you do your renders?
I create UV Maps for all the subtools and export the diffuse, normal, cavity, etc to photoshop where i combine different layers to produce the final textures. I then render the model in 3d studio max using the SSS Fast Skin shader.
K, well i gave him warpaint, painted a cool space background and made a wallpaper. Spent most of today and a bit of yesterday doing it.

Avesome work. i love turians.
The pores is a bit too heavy imo.
Overall , nice work.
Well, I have decided to use him for a year 12 FTV Assignment. Im going to animate him in a short advertisement for a fictional mass effect 3.
Heres a WIP.
I plan on creating the rest of his torso and rigging it to animate him for about 35 seconds. He’ll be doing an interview kinda like the Mass Effect 2 Trailers.
Heres an update:
[]
I created the rest of the body needed in the animation.
Things needed to do in the next three weeks:
Create the inner mouth
Re UV Map the head (you will notice some screwing up with the nose on the last pictures)
UV Map the arms and shoulderpads
Create Morph Targets and Animate!!!
Did a render in 3ds max today.
Criticism is welcome.
Well you said criticism is welcome, for the body/armor I feel the colors really clash, very toyish looking less yellow/red mixture, maybe pick one and go with it, yellow and the silver look great together, but then there’s that reddish pinkish hue on the forearms that needs to be changed as well in my opinion. I haven’t played mass effect 2 and I never got very far in 1 so I don’t know if you are basing this off of one of your favorite armors or something.
Thanks for that info. Ill change that now then.
I did as you reccomended and changed the body to all yellow. I also made a belt and neck collar, and edited some materials. Still need to finalise materials though, they look too plasticy.

I finalised the model and set him up for Animation in 3D Stuido Max 2011.
I didn’t fix the UVs for the nose because i really don’t have time.
Now I need to record the audio and animate about 35 seconds of him talking, after i fix a few problems with the head doing the opposite of everything i tell it to with the bones.

I think the armor came out too organic and looks a bit like clay. Would be cool to have something more hard-surface and more defined with a metal armor look. My opinion of course.
Check out these two examples for armors:

I FINALLY FINISHED YAY!
It took forever to render in HD. Seriously, it took about an hour per second.
