masks in projection master?

Is there a way to use masks in projection master?

I want to put texture bump on my model that seems to go under another part.

or is there a way to hide a part you have a mask painted on from edit mode?- because that would help the same way.

thanks

Masks will not work with Projection Master, but the Stencil will (be sure to turn it off before you pick the model up again). Or you can use the Directional Brush with an alpha and paint that way.

You can hide unmasked portions of the mesh using Tool>Masking>HidePt. The drawback is that if you’re painting depth with Projection Master and then paint to the edges of the visible polygons, you’re going to get a very unsightly mesh when you unhide it again.

thanks this helps a lot

I am picking up this thread, because I don’t want to beginn a new one if it’s not necessary

A problem appeared, while going through a tutorial.
There is said:

  1. Import your model as an OBJ or load it as a ZTL.

  2. Draw it on the canvas, enter edit mode and position it on the
    canvas for best viewing angle.

  3. Divide your model to a high enough resolution for the detail you
    want to add; Tool:Geometry:Divide.

  4. Create a 1024 x 1024 texture; Texture:New. We will use the
texture to paint our stencil. Make sure it is white.

  5. Press Projection Master. Choose Deformations with Normalized
off and Fade on. Then click Drop Now.

  6. Select the Simple Brush; Tool:Simple Brush.

  7. Turn off Zadd, turn on RGB and increase RGB intensity to 100.

  8. Set your color to black and paint the area of your model that
you do not want to be affected by your sculpting.

  9. In the Render palette, select Flat; Render:Flat. This will remove
all shading and allow us to make a perfect black and white
stencil that is the size of the canvas.

  10. Grab the canvas as a texture; Texture:Grab Doc.

  11. Convert the texture to an alpha; Texture:Make Alpha

…and so on, for creating a Stencil in PM.

But when I follow the steps exactly like this, I am not able to paint in PM.
Has anyone an idea what could have happened?

Isugath :o

Not a clue. After dropping the model, check your Draw palette settings as well as the alpha that you’re using.

Hm… I checked the settings, and also reseted everything to the standard settings. Any clue what it would be?

I made a screenshot where the draw and the alpha palette are shown with the Tool in PM. I hope this helps a bit!

…is record your session as a script and post it here ! (if you have not the demo)
menu Zscript/ Record
So we can help you with more facility!
(take a canvas of 640*480)

Hm… the step, where I open the PM is missing… I don’t know why…

I hope, this script helps (…save as)

…Projection Master never appear in a script!
so it’s normal that you don’t see it during the replay!

For your problem, I am seeing your script:)

I don’t know very well what you want but
at the end of your script
Load any texture that you want as Stencil
(or select a texture existing)
Texture enable / Make Alpha / Make Stencil
Launch Projection Master (key “G”) = “drop”
Texture Off
Stencil ON
Space Bare for adjusting your Stencil as you want
Select the normal brush
Paint as you want into your stencil
(key “G”) again = “Peek” (exit of Projection master)
That works
If your painting is some scrached on the model increase the AUV ration in The Menu Texture

Hope this help

I re read your previous post and understand what you want : a stencil of your model
So it’s very more easy than your tut

Draw your model in the position whished
erase the part that you don’t want on your stencil
Use the mrgbraber (With Auto crop disable or not depending of the result whished)
= you have an Alpha
Menu Alpha / Make Stencil
That all
Ctrl + N = erase Canvas
Draw your Model
Use Projection Master as my previous post
Texture Off Stencil On Press Barre Paint the model into the Stencil etc…

You can also
Not in PM create a new layer : redraw your model
erase the part that you don’t want on your stencil
Use the Mrgbzgrabber —> as above = you have your Stencil
Erase the layer
And return to your model
PM, Stencil, Space Barre, etc

No, it was the first one
But it works now, thank you very much!!
