Masks Based on Polygroups doesn't seem to work.

I’ve bee trying to get this to work but the ctrl+click on a polygroup doesn’t activate the masking. I suppose I’m doing something wrong but the documentation for the latest release, 4R2b, for this action seems pretty straight forward (see below).

Masks Based on PolygroupsWhen CTRL+Clicking on a polygroup, the generated Mask will apply to the entire polygroup at 100% intensity. In previous version of ZBrush, the border of the polygroup was only Masked at 50%

I don’t get the generated mask at all at either 100% OR 50%

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ezra

Hi Ezra,

I’m not quite sure what they mean in the documentation but if you want to mask by polygroup, hold down Ctrl+Shift and click on the polygroup you want to mask. This will hide the other polygroups. Then just drag a mask rectangle over that polygroup (or Ctrl+click on canvas) to mask it then hold down Ctrl+Shift and click on empty part of canvas to unhide all polygrpoups. Only your selected polygroup will be masked.

edit: I think all they are saying in the documentation is that it now masks at 100% as compared to 50% borders previously. I believe the proper workflow for Masks Based on Polygroups, and what they meant by Ctrl+click is as I mentioned above.

Thanks Zber,

Your method is how I’ve typically been masking separate polygroups. I had just come across that little blurb in the latest docs and thought there was a new way to mask. This OLD DOG was just trying to learn a new trick .

Thanks for your response Zber I continue to use that ‘hide the other polygroups and mask the visible one left’.

Take care Zber.

Ezra

If you switch on Move, Scale or Rotate (so Transpose becomes available) you can Ctrl+click on a polygroup and all the other groups will be masked. Ctrl+click on the background to reverse the mask.

Thanks Marcus! :+1:

Yes, thank you Marcos. Much appreciated.
