Masking without depth

Hi,
is there an easy way to mask only one side of a tool or even some specific segments? As you can see in the screenshot I was trying to mask only the downside of the hemisphere but the mask is applied to everything behind the downside.

The easiest way would be just to hide the parts that you don’t want masked.
