I got small suggestion for masking brush. If it’s already possible please excuse me!
While masking with MaskPen brush, the alternate mode, while dragging outside of tool is rectangular masking. It would be neat to be able to shift that to lasso or whatever that works off the tool.

I run a custom interface that has all the various masking brushes, as well as the clip, trim , and slice brushes right on the edge of the viewport to make switching between them simple. Because I agree in a broad sense-- there’s a lot of functionality channeled through those ctrl and shift-ctrl alternate brush modes, and it can be cumbersome to switch quickly between them.
The default mask pen still needs its “off mesh” capability though. Dragging a square marquee out in empty space then holding down spacebar to move it over the target area of your mesh is a very useful move.
Yeah, I know all that.
But sometimes you need a lasso and maskpen in same moment and as I said, it’s just a suggestion to speed up a workflow that everybody would benefit from
