I have a problem when masking objects. After running ZBR I can make my first mask with “Freehand” stroke. But during the next tries ZBR swithes the stroke to “Drag Rectangle” and clicking on other “Stroke” buttons has no effect. I mask holding “CTRL” pressed. I hadn’t mentioned this if it wasn’t happend in the new ZBR1.23, too. Please help me to start masking as a normal user, because I avoid this feature every time I need it.
Hi Martin
Not sure if I am clear on this. What is supposed to happen is this.
I draw an sphere
Press “T” for transform puts my object in Edit->Draw mode
In Edit->Draw pressing the CNTRL key allows me to draw a mask on the object
If I press Transform->Move this function switches to a dragRectangle using the currently selected Alpha Map
If I go back to Transform->Draw I should now be using the Freehand Mask when I press the CNTRL key.
You are saying that this doesn’t work for you? that even if you switch back to DRAW it still drags the Alpha Mask?
If that be the case it sounds like you have something screwy with your system or Zbrush build.
Sorry not much help
I’m saying that every next try after the first one to mask something, ZBR uses a “Drag Rectangle” stroke permanently (with a strange kind of symmetry - when I try to mask with “symmetry” switched on, the symmetric mask applies on different than the symmetric marker place). It happened in ZBR 1.13 when I used a Klamath400o/cMHz ASUS-BX MotherBoard and W98SE OS, and it happens now when I have AMD900MHz ASUS-K7V MotherBoard W2000Pro OS and ZBR 1.23b.
HELL-OW,
does this silence mean that I won’t be able to use masking anymore? Heeeeeelp
Sounds like you are having the same problem I always mistakenly do and try and mask in EDIT-MOVE MODE.
I’m not 100% sure what you are meaning . A picture speaks a 1000 words. Could you post an screen grab of your problem??
Upham
Thank you very much, Upham,
this is exactly my problem(was). And the solution you gave me works. I’ve always forgot to press “Q” before masking. Ha, pretty simple, isnt,it?
