Mask original after duplicating when in same subtool

Hi, Im very new to zbrush and following a tutorial where we use the move tool to duplicate the top part of the arm to use on the bottom. Once duplicated the top part of the arm is automatically masked while we make adjustment to the bottom half. once i clear the mask how do i re-mask the top part of the arm again when its part of the same sub tool. in the video he seems to do it with one click he holds control to bring up the mask tool but doesn’t show what he does next (or what key he presses) that seem to automatically re mask the original part of the arm ?.

Sorry if the terminology is correct i’m still learning any help would be appreciated !

Hi @David_Skelton Welcome to ZBrush Central.

If at all possible, it would be helpful if you’re referring to a video that you would post a link to the video at the time in the video that this happens.

Barring that, what he probably did was, after creating the duplicate, pressed Ctrl+W which would give the masked original it’s own polygroup. Once each part has it’s own polygroup, you would hold Ctrl (while in Move, Scale or Rotate) and click on the part you don’t want masked which would automatically mask the other part.

The problem with some tutorials is that the instructor doesn’t always verbalize every move they make.
