Ok, so this actually started out being just a head I created while sitting in my sofa doing some zbrushing. After that it became a bust, and then a torso and finally a complete body. So looots and lots of reprojection. During that process he also had the classic costume design/look that Alex Ross awsomely portraid in his paintings of DC-characters and Justice League. But as time goes by, I guess I looked at it a bit to much and wanted to change it to the more updated look that Martian Manhunter has. So there were a lot of changes, shape of the skull, body etc etc. And now here we are. I started with some textures and color palette for the suit and should have it nailed down pretty soon. There are a few details I’m not completely happy with, like details on legs and such. Maybe they’re a bit to much. Dont know. But this is where I am so far. Enjoy! More updates will arrive soon.

Just a quick small update. I’ll be posting the final pose of the character tomorrow and some WIP of the textures. Since the final render will be pretty high-res I’m working with several 4096 textures which obviously takes some time. Stay tuned.

Ok, got a bit too excited so I couldnt wait till tomorrow. Heres the final pose. I’ve got some stuff to fix on the mesh before it’s completely done. In retrospect I shouldnt have done
all those folds on the boots before I posed him, so now I need to fix that. That and a few other things like the face. Anywho. Enjoy!

RawSunlight: Thanks! Yeah, I really like Alex Ross’s kinda bloated (sorry) superhero. At least if you compare how they’re portraid today where you can see every muscle fibre in their bodies. Although I kinda prefer the last. At least when it comes to zbrushing models. Gotta love the detail. :slight_smile:

jaystein777: Spanx! Really appreciate it. I more or less ripped of the pose from this pic below. I also looked a bit at Supermans poses from Superman Returns to get a more floaty feel.

Martian is looking great, The pose is looking awesome… not a big fan of his expression though but I guess it was built that way.

Smooth_Criminal: Yeah, I’m kinda pleased with the pose. Regarding the facial expression, what is it about it that you dont like? So far I dont really have a preference so if you got some ideas feel free to share them. Input is always welcome.

yeah the pose is very powerful and shows a lot for the character… for the expression I think having a more calm expression will work out… maybe not having the brow’s frowned and keeping the lips in a more proud and relaxed state as in Dr Manhattan ?? Its maybe just me who feels this. some images that might be helpful

And some more wip. Lighting still not done. Face needs to be brighter, textures on both face and body needs adjustment and more detail. Of course he’s missing his lower body, cape, straps across the chest and emblems. He’s gonna need some red glow coming from his eyes as well. But as before, he’s getting there.
