Manipulation point

Is there a way or hotkey to manipulate an active subtool with a move brush NOT constrained to or referencing the surface of active/inactive subtools, but in open space?
Thanks!

Hello @denusio

I’m not sure I understand.

If you enter Move mode (w) you can use the Gizmo manipulator to position the object along an axis in the worldspace, or freely along the screen plane. Otherwise, you will need to elaborate a bit more.

Thank you.

Question

Here’s a scenario, I want to left click and drag from where the cursor is to the left and theoretically bend the hair tip like the outline with the move BRUSH, but instead the program enters view rotation because I clicked into the void instead of on an subtool surface. I could always mask and then rotate the spike tip, but that’s rather time consuming.

A solution I just thought of could be to make a flat plane a subtool and then move the plane to align it with the area I want to move in such a manner.

Hi @denusio,
There is a lock camera option in the draw palette. This will prevent the view from rotating if you accidentally click the canvas instead of on the model.

You’ll still need to click on the model for the brush to interact with it.

Not sure if it’s what you’re looking for, but I hope it helps.
cheers

Ah, then there is no way around using a subtool surface to manipulate.

I’ll try using my flat plane technique instead. Thanks.
