Made entirely in zbrush with zsphere and I did a lot of edgelooping critiques are welcome
There are a few things I can critique, but at this point, i’m just really impressed with what you’ve done so far since this is all zbrush and zspheres.
Is it possible that we can see your zsphere setup, and could you talk a bit more about where exactly you did edge loop work?
Looking good. Update promptly and update plenty.
Gibb I’m not sure about your flow but my advice is to only use edge loops when you really need them and not to actually model musculature. The muscles always seem to end up strange looking. I bought the digital sculpting DVD from gnomon and what that guy did without any edge loops whatsoever is pretty amazing. The muscle softness and weight look so incredible. I used edge loops all over the place for this model and at first I thought it was something special, but since the muscles were modeled instead of molded I can’t really alter them to make another character or any sort of pose because it gets all out of place and starts tearing.

Thanks for the advice DarkInk. I was thinking about buying gnomon’s DVD.
I’m still new a this and I was just experimenting with edge looping. This was my first time doing a full figure. It was quite a challenge and a lot of fun. Here’s a little example on how I develop this model below
is he supposed to have a chest in the front as well as back? Because if not, your back muscaluture is all wrong
Here’s a back for ya.
hmm, close, but you should try for something more like this:
not perfect, but the musculature is alot closer to correct.
Thanks for the advice. I’m not even close to being done with the back yet. I just got tried and decided to stop there for now.
hope this helps
I think you didnt need any edgeloop, your muscles looks too sharp…
Jut subdivide your base mesh, and drow smoothly your muscles.
If you cant remove edgelopps, try too smooth your torso muscles.
Your apraching, dude, keep on your efforts!
I use to make a snapshot of my objects, and put in on a ref photo at 50% transparency on toshop, then I higlight the wrong areas, to correct it back in zbrush, I do it severa tiomes to be as close to my model… If it can help…
Oh no, in that one model I was going for more of a pre-season soft body builder type definition. Although I prefer unrealistic comical proportions, a little softness and simplicity looks better to me than getting every nook and cranny.
And fanmap529, do yourself a favor and hit inflate a couple of times. It always makes things look better. You should try using live human references. Your modelling internal anatomy.
lol that was supposed to be someone who was very ripped, but if u read when i first posted it, its not anywhere near perfect, but the muscaluture is pretty anatomically correct. I plan to create a way better model in the near future.
