Making holes in cubes and spheres...

Is it possible to poke holes in things like cubes, spheres and cylinders? I have tried clipping brushes, masking and clipping brushes and an electric drill that merely damaged my monitor… and no luck…
I have spent so much time trying to do this I forget why i was wanting to in the first place…

Cheers!

Look on page 160 of your ZBrush4_whats_new.pdf . Your answer should be there.

Thank you Zber…

I am afraid that I understood nothing on that page… well maybe importing from another program but that is it.
I guess I have a long way to go.
The shapes in the pictures are exactly the sort of things Im after but the text is WAY over my head…

So…
Back to the tutorials I go!

GRIN!!!
Thanks again, at least I have a starting point to work from!

hmm…
Is remesh like doing boolines(sp?) in other programs?

That’s exactly what it is. Look at page 162, and you’ll see how the boolean function is set for each subtool. To punch a hole in a cube you’d append a cylinder and click the icon for Subtraction next to it on the SubTool pallet then remesh. It’ll make a new tool of the boolean result.

Alternatively in ZBrush 4 you can use Shadowbox to create your shape. Look for the Intro to Shadowbox video in ZClassroom. I prefer Shadowbox to messing with booleans myself.

And yet another way is found here: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Topology:_Mesh_Editing

The specific approach you take would depend on the nature of your existing mesh and what you want the resulting topology to be like.

Zber, Aurick and InternetFriend, Thankyou all!
Very very much!
