Make 3D Alpha problems (pointy and jagged surfaces)

Hello everyone.

I’m still having a lot to learn but really enjoy diving into Zbrush so far. I’m have a problem trying to “Make 3d Alphas”.

I always have this problem but to simply I will use this specific example of what I’m running into.

I have a treasure coin drawing that I made black/White, 16 bit, and applied gradient map to in PS. (But I did not do the radial circle gradient to soften the edges because I believe I don’t want that if I want to just make a flat treasure coin from this image).

But then I “Make 3D”, I get these jagged peaks all over the surface. I have tried different things but can’t get rid of them

What could I please do?

Thank you.painting-coin-mexico-1711-2-final background removed png.pngjaggies.jpg

OK, so I found out so far on my own that if you go to “Modify” for Alpha pallet, you can slightly increase the intensity slider, and then I get much cleaner results.
