Magnets and Classic Skinning

Okay, I’ve only been working with Zbrush for a short while so excuse me if this question is simple.

Anyway, I have been working on creating a simple ant with zpheres and everything when I ran into a little snag. Using magnets in normal skins doesn’t work. So I looked it up a bit and saw classic skinning would work. It did fix the problem but then the model itself was curved and surfacing itself in ways i didn’t want it too.

You can see I tried to add more zspheres to the joints but they come out jagged and pointy.

So am I supposed to work around it when I get to detailing or is there something I can do?

zspheres aren’t meant to be the end all be all. They’re designed to give you a quick base to sculpt from. So either solution will work for you, you just need to actually sculpt the changes that need to be in your sculpt. 9x out of 10 zspheres won’t give you the look and feel that you want, but 10x out of 10 they will give you a great starting point.
