Please follow this forum’s guidelines when posting any troubleshooting inquiry. With each troubleshooting post, please include your full system specs and any other pertinent information (the steps you’re following) which will allow us to determine if this is one of the following: a) user error? b) Misunderstanding of a specific feature, such as its usage and limitations? c) An item which has already been resolved. d) An item which needs to be resolved.

IMPORTANT: Before posting a troubleshooting item, make sure that:

1. You are using the latest ZBrush version.

2. You have a ‘clean’ ZBrush install. i.e. remove any items which you have added (such as older ZScripts and other startup items) which may result in unexpected - and difficult to resolve - problems.

  1. You did not increase the PreferencesMax polygon count or Compact Mem to a level which can not be supported by your system specs.

Any threads that do not follow these guidelines will be closed. Thank you for your cooperation.

Are you using short file or folder names (less than 8 characters)?

marcus. yes. that a problem ?

I’ve found it best to use file names of 8 or more characters if the Macro subfolder has less than 8 characters in its name. For short file names, put them in a folder with a longer than 8 character name.

Tha’s a weird limitation, usually it’s the other way around

Anyway try putting them in a subfolder regardless and also delete the compiled scripts when you make a change. I had a similar issue where ZB wouldn’t even see my macros if i didn’t create a sub fiolder in the Macros folder and put the scripts in that.

Also make sure there arent any errors in the scripts cause if there are errors then ZB will not load them but wont throw any errors either (IIRC)

Yes, that’s a good point that I should have mentioned. If you still can’t get a particular macro to show, try loading the text file using the ZScript:Load button. Press ‘H’ to get the Tutorial window to open and you should either see the macro button with its ‘???’ or the text of the macro. If the text shows it will indicate a problem; scroll down to see what it is.

no errors in the scripts. but renaming the folder seems to have totally done the trick. thanks for your help guys
