mac (unsanity) haxies and zbrush

so i was “pimpin my mac” today and after i was all done, i went to start up zbrush and i had some major problems. i customized my system UI with “Unsanity–Shapesifter.” and I chose the “Milk” option. When I tried to open Zbrush, something really strange happened. When I opened it, the zbrush interface window scaled up and then disappeared. the shadow of the interface remained and when I moved my mouse around, the zbrush menu items appeared. But, I couldn’t quit or close without force quitting.

The fix was that I had to “un-pimp” my mac by reverting to the default settings and then it opened fine. Everything but zbrush opened okay with the customizations. the other mods still remain intact with the exception of the desktop. i guess the lesson is that haxies and zbrush don’t get along too well. i think i’d rather have zbrush than a cool desktop.

Does Shapeshifter have an exclusion list, where you can specify programs that it should leave alone?

Yeah, well hacking your system has issues always. It isn’t necessarily Zbrush at fault. Depending on exactly what you did, you could have been messing with areas that Zbrush accesses, thus causing the problem. ZBrush was designed on a stock setup and with good reason. Is your Mac Intel or earlier? We have a thread addressing Intel issues and how to get around them in general. If you are on an Intel machine, it actually may be a Rosetta issue and it is beyond reproach at the moment.

nah, no intel machine, just my good ol’ g4. there is an exclusion list, and i gave that a try but it still didn’t work. no biggie. the other apps have the customizations, just not my desktop.
