Hi, I read that some of you have used ZBrush on MacBook Pro 16" with M1 CPU. Is there any advantage in getting the M1 Max over the M1 Pro? How much RAM is recommended?
Hello @gbrush ,
Those two CPUs have different performance capabilities, and one generally outperforms the other. It would be up to you to decide if the additional performance is important to you. I can’t make any recommendations as to which hardware to get, but the recommended system specs can be found here:
https://pixologic.com/zbrush/system/
If I were to suggest anything, it would be to not overlook drive space. For the best results with ZBrush, it needs a significant amount of empty drive space wherever the scratch disk is installed, and modern OS drive space requirements keep getting larger and larger.
Almost overlook on this. By “significant amount of empty drive space”, about how many GB are you talking about?
Any idea when the silicon version will be out? The following announcement was made a year ago!
Support for Apple Silicon (M1 Chip) - ZBrush (pixologic.com)
This is stated in the recommended system specs.
As always, anything we’re prepared to announce has already been announced in an official statement. ZBrush staff can’t comment on future development plans for ZBrush.
Thank you!
