Luxology's Modo: Demo videos available!

A really nice new modeling app on the block that well you just have to see for yourself.

Enjoy

had a quick look at the website for this, looks very promosing, seems like could be a very nice companion to zb although, it costs $1236 AUD which is pretty pricy for something that is purely a SDS modeller, but even so compared to the top shelf products, you could by modo, zb and lightwave, which would give you a pretty robust toolset, and you would still have enough change in your pocket to buy a nice new workstation.
, hmm, do you also notice a certain similarity in the interface colours.

I just checked out the “new” movies. That application looks spectacular.
The Morph Target movie was awesome. I just about freaked out when he pulled out the antennas.

Super cool !!!

:+1: :+1: :+1:

$1200AUD? Nah, too much.

I think the price tag is dependable upon the release, and nobody knows yet, apart from beta testers…

Actually, at the www.luxology.com webite it says:

“Pricing & Availability
modo retails for $895 with an introductory price of $695. We will begin taking pre-orders through this site before the end of August. In the mean time if you would like to be the first on your block to order modo, you can send a pre-order request to sales.”

It’s still high. A retail price of $499 would be more reasonable.

My two cents…

It seems to be a good price for what it appears to be if you ask me.

Did you actually watch all the videos? You may want to.

Here’s some cool info about Modo, and Nexus OS, Luxologies “3D” environment.

Seems to me like Luxology is thinking a bit further than I gave them credit for. It’s looking like Modo may be more than what they’ve shown.

My favorite quote,

Hastings demonstrated the capabilities of the Nexus environment, using it to interactively render 736 million polygons in a scene where the camera moved forward through a seemingly infinite field of multicolored 3D animated hippos – while he changed colors on the fly.

From the little i read here and there, Modo is really a good package with alot of features coming from Lightwave 3D modeler, but coupled with alot of great workflow enhancements , and a really flexible modern and opened structure .

i think the app its pricy because of its really clever inner structure and code, especially after reading some hints about Nexus being a sort of platform.

If what i think is right, the Modo/nexus app will be able to host other apps like ZBrush and others giving us a sort of common standard base in wich work smoothly overriding other app’ User interfaces.

nice to see that Modo UI is similar to ZBrush one in its default colors.
