Ok the eeconomy is in the tank, high unemployment and there is
a chance that Brooklyn is building a nuclear reactor.
But.
Normally during Siggraph week, you are overwhelmed with
information.
As mentioned in previous thread did not go because of August heat,
flies, mold.
Did everyone else stay home???
At least Zbrush could have sent Aurick to demonstrate Paintshop, sorry
autosketch, sorry Painter, sorry that thing that paints stuff.
Somebody post something, give me hope…
Obviously Autodesk went, they thrive on flies.
What you expect after 8 years of conservative rule.
I think its great and I’m here. Most people aren’t posting because after the convention finishes each night, we end up on Bourbon St. I don’t remember much of what happens there.
I don’t remember much of what happens there.
I have the same problem here without the plane ticket.
Look forward to review…enjoy.
I am not sure what is meant by “8 years of conservative rule” but if the first 6 months of this nutcase in the white house now is any indication then you will very likely end up loving the Bush era.
As regards to Siggraph - who cares - its just another bloated expo and all that you want to know is available on the internet. So why bother?
Besides for most of us in Europe, we hardly ever go to these things and are doing really well.
PS Do me a favour and learn something about the “real” politics of the Bush era before you “can it”. If it was not for the Bush administration the whole world would be in a far worse situation. The threat from rogue nations is very “real” - get a grip! You should try to live under a socialist regime for a while before you make lame comments. Besides there is a policy on this forum not to get political. I am merely replying here and not instigating.
- 911 (terror attack on their watch)
2.Highest unemployment in 60 years
3.A recession bordering on a Depreesion
4.Invaded a entire country in Middle east f
5.Housing Collapse
6.Katrina
7.Illegal Torture - Outing a CIA agent…shall i go on
I will never miss the Bush Era. Ever he was by far the worst president ever! People like you are the reason this country was looking into the abyss.
Now let’s get back to lighter fare and discuss Siggaph. if you want to talk
politics go to Huffingtonpost and learn something.
You really make me laugh.
While you were complaining they kept your “a s s” safe!
regarding your points - let me just enlighten you a little!
1: Re 911 … So that was Bush’s fault was it? I recall that Clinton was the dimwit that let Osama go free when the CIA had him in their gunsights.
2: Highest Unemplyoyment and the socalled recession and housing collapse: That is a result of many factors and not just the Bush era. It was the idiotic democrats that made the case for Fanny May and all those cheap housing loans that almost anybody with a brain would recognise would cause a huge amount of defaulters. The Security Commission eg is a main culprit and the oversight bipartisan committee did a terrible job. Both Democrats and Republicans share the blame here and it started way earlier than the Bush era.
3: Invaded a country: They LIBERATED Iraq and made sure that the world would not get an Islamic connection right across the middle east. I would say that was a seriously GREAT JOB that the Bush era did. They had the guts to do what whimps like you would never.
4: Katrina: Last I heard Katrina was an act of god and not a mere president. The aftermath of the tragedy was a disgrace but the fault lies with many people especially the Mayor of New Orleans and the Democrat female idiot governor that could not get over her partisan politics to help save her own constituents.
5: Illegal torture: I would have shot those bastards after they told me everything and torture to save the lives of any of my family is totally OK with me. I wonder what you would say if your kid got killed by a terror attack and then you learned that a guy that the lame democrats had in prison could have stopped it but the nutcase in the white house did not allow serious questioning.
6: The CIA operative was a total loser and acted with her husband on their own initiative and for their own profit and political bias. I am real glad that she and her husband got driven out.
So I could go an as you say for a few more pages but that would be a waste of time as you most likely will never see anything other than what you want to see.
PS Bush was a great president under difficult circumstances and did more for America than you or any of your lame liberal friends will ever do.
Now please go drink your KOOLAID!!!
please, if you want to rant about “politics” do it someplace else …
gladly this mess got moderetaed ;f Anyway i expected to see all zbrush 4 features at Siggraph ;/
Well…anybody…somebody.
Did Siggraph at least have rides, throw balls at dolls, darts,
throw a Ping pong ball in a gold fish bowl.
Anybody mugged?
Wild parties?
Bribes from software companies?
Fooling around between Mudbox and Maya people?
Something.
Edit: was kindof hoping somebody would make me feel badly
about not going.
At this moment looks like I saved bucks.
Nvidia had a wild party, at this bar which had a 3 for 1 beer deal. A solid state hard drive had 1250 different DVD quality video streams running from it. You wolud sort of use it like a temporary hard drive while working, and would get huge increases 10x to 20x in render speed.
There was a mocap system that didn’t rely on digital cameras. And there were was the golden woman with blue hair. I have a picture of her with me. I haven’t had a chance to see the techincal papers yet. I hope to get dvd from someone about that.
The convention center is epic at least 1.3 miles probably more.
I got the pixar walking teapot. Most of the bookstores and schools have very attractive women as salewoman.
Got the new freedomof teach/anatomytools woman echorce.
there was a monitor that was 3d but didn’t require classes. Could use some work, but it was really cool. And a lot more to come…
Thank you Womball.
Women with weird hair color and cheap beer have
always been a standard…
One small question, since we are kinda guests here, anything
about Zbrush?
When you mentioned cheap beer, immediately thought Pixologic staff.
Me with the golden woman. It looks like I’m about to flip her on my back and carry her back to my cave.
I will upload some more pictures later. No pixologic unfortunately. There was zbrush on wacom cintiqs. And the head scanning software reminded me of a zbrush post where they were scanning things and retopologizing them in zbrush. I think they missed out here. There software was also used in a lot of animation at the festivals. Usually in an experimental fashion.
Today is partial screening of cloudy with a chance of meatballs, a pixar short with Mator, and hopefully I can get some of the first 2 hours of animations I missed at 1-3.
Cloudy with a Chance of meatballs looks incredible. Its like a combination of the high SSS of Pixar’s Up (they didn’t mentiont that) with 1950’s UVA style. The designers also mentioned a muppet influence, but I didn’t see it yet. Only a handful of clips were shown so far, and they did breakdowns of the shots too. Excellent VFX work too.
MANY THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!
Two questions for later when you get home.
- Were you glad you went?
- Was the choice of New Orleans a good one?
edit: be careful
The question remains why that guy behind you is shielding his face…
Looks like he is crying…
I think he was trying to hide. You see when he covers his face, he’s invisible.
No way… she told me you split your trousers!
Her thumb is pressing the security call button.

Got the new freedomof teach/anatomytools woman echorce.
The new medical reference quality one? thought that wasn’t out yet. Or is it one of the two artist reference grey ones?
