So I’m sculpting a human head and somehow it’s gotten out of alignment. I’ve put the Geometry->Position all at 0, but when I hit the direction face in the upper right to see it directly from the front the sculpt looks off to the side a bit. Symmetry is on but doesn’t work. Can I fix this? The history was erased right beforehand.
Hi @Jorozo Welcome to ZBrush Central
Go to “Tool > Deformation” and click “Unify”. This will place your mesh at the center of ZBrush world space which the “Activate Symmetry” button uses.
If you rotated it a bit somehow, go to a top view and use the Gizmo3D to rotate it as close as possible to straighten it then go to “Tool > Geometry > Modify Topology” and click “Mirror And Weld” to get exact symmetry back.
Make sure that you don’t have symmetry enabled when moving the mesh. The head was not centered. Make sure the head is centered before you click “Mirror And Weld”. When using Mirror and Weld, everything left of center will be mirrored on the right. Just keep moving the head left or right until your satisfied with the outcome of Mirror And Weld. If you still can’t get it, zip and upload the tool (before the mirror and weld) here and I will fix it for you. Just drag and drop the file into text editor you use to post.
Good Luck!
I couldn’t nudge the face into the correct position where mirroring wouldn’t distort it. Thank you for offering to fix it but I’m a new user and apparently can’t upload attachments.
