Hello,
i was wondering if anyone could help me. I tried searching the forums to see if anyone else has had this problem but i only found one post and they hadn’t gotten a response yet.
I was retopologizing a mesh in 4r7 (64 bit) last night and saving it out as a zproject file. then when i come into work this morning and try to open the file it only has a zsphere in the file. all my retopo work is gone. i tried opening all the quicksave versions of the file as well and they all only contain a zsphere. i’ve never had this problem with previous versions of zbrush.
i was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and figured out a solution to either recover the lost work or at least prevent it from happening again. maybe just save out ztool files?
any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.
Windows 7 ZBrush 4R7 P2 (x64) Just opened up a .zpr. and loaded up the Topology brush. Drew some lines and saved as a .zpr. Closed ZBrush. When I opened my file, it was as I expected it to be. I didn’t however have a ZSphere in the project; I was drawing directly on the model.
you’re right, i’m sorry, i should have explained better what i was doing.
i wasn’t actually using the topology brush. i like using the older method of appending a zsphere to my subtools and going down to topology>edit topology and creating the topology that way.
though i did find that saving it out just as a ztool file works fine, it seems just the zproject file gets ruined for some reason.
i also just figured out if you have more than one subtool in your file it will work just fine with the zproject file format.
i originally just had a head mesh i was retopoing with an appended zshpere to make the new mesh. saving that out as a zproject file causes a problem when reopening the file.
but i tried setting up the file again and this time i appended an extra cube mesh. saved out a zproject file and when i tried to reopen it worked just fine.
i’m not sure why having just one mesh in the file would cause a problem. weird…
