Lost Red wax mat cap material...how do I get it back?

Hi gang,

I’m new to Z3. I loaded a bronze matcap material to try it out and then pressed “save” at the bottom of the material menu (I did this because it wouldn’t show up in the materials menu). However when I did this I lost my Red wax mat cap (the standard material most everyone is using to sculpt in - which I love)… how do I get it back?

I looked inside of my materials folder but it is empty…

I realize this is probably a really silly thing and I’m a just a dork!

ok…

I feel really stupid now because I re-started Z3 and and the red wax mat cap came back…

Just wondering but why did it disapear in the first place from my menu?

I’m such a newb!

It’s okay, spawn…it happens to all of us, I think! When you loaded the bronze material, it took the place of the current material (in this case, red wax), but only for the current session. A good thing to remember doing in the future is to select a material from the palette that you are sure you won’t be using during the session (I usually choose dotsmetal or something similar because I never use that one). Then load your bronze material.

This will also be helpful when you load your tool again in a new session. Your saved tool will load with the dotsmetal material. You then click on the material icon and drag it to the model. This will automatically “pick” the current dots material from the model making it the current material. You then load your bronze in again. If this is confusing, you can also simply select the dots material from the palette and load the bronze from there.

Hope this made sense.

AHHH…

Thanks so much!

That makes sense!

It’s perhaps a stupid question, but the Bronze Mat isn’t provided by Zbrush (not in my default list, not in the Zmaterial folder which is empty. How can I get it (or other cool materials) ? Thanks!
