Lost pivot point how do I set it back permanently

Hi.

I exported my model low poly into hexagon 2.1 to make some changes which involved me moving the model from where it was. When I imported it back, the pivot point was lost. I pressed S pivot which fixed it, but how to I set this as its permanent pivot point as when I press clear pivot it puts it back so it was so its only a tempory fix.

Thanks in advanced.

The easiest way to center the pivot point permanently is by using Tool > Deformation > Unify. This however also resizes your model.

The second option is also easy to perform and will retain the models scale. But it involves a couple of extra steps.

1 ) Set the pivot point with Transform > S. Pivot.
2 ) Store a morph target with Tool > Morph Target > StoreMT.
3 ) Clear the pivot point with Transform > C. Pivot.
4 ) Perform a 100 % morph with the Tool > Morph Target > Morph slider.

You should note that both methods do not ensure a 100% symmetrical model. There may in fact be less symmetry after performing either method so therefore it is advisable to perform Tool > Deformation > Smart Resym on each subdivision level, starting with level 1.

Thanks for you reply. The first method worked the best but when trying to smart resym zbrush crashes on 3rd sub level every time.

One thing I did notice is that after pressing unify it made other sub levels with what looks like a dissplacment map was applied over the top with all details standing out alot more than normal.

That sounds strange. Did you clear all masks and unhide the entire mesh before applying Unify and Smart Resym? Also, be aware there is a ReSym and a Smart ReSym deformation. You will want to use Smart ReSym.

If your model is still slightly off center (due to a non symmetrical model for example) you can help ZBrush a little by moving the Pivot Point manually using the Tool > Preview > Object Preview window.

If your model was resized and became smaller than the original, any bump map applied will appear much more powerful. This could be what you`re seeing…

Cheers,

R

Hi,

Thats the weared thing, I havent applied no bump or dissplacment map. Athough it was unexpected it acualy helped bring detail up that was only slight.

Its hard to replicate this again as I dont know how I lost the pivot point in the first place.
