Sorry, I just don’t know where to turn. What I’m looking for is a cool devil, not a lot of detail. I will try and post some examples of what my company is looking for. I know this is probably not normal, please forgive me I’m new, but I’m in a bind and we are supposed to go live with the website next month. I used an Icon of a devil and upon further reading of there copyright laws with this cartoon; we are forced to replace him. Please keep in mind that our company can not pay a lot of money for the design. Take a look at the samples and let me know what it would cost. Thanks

Might suggest you look at the work of the artist Robotalk in this forum.
Don’t know if he does this work,but he could definitely fill your requirements.
My opinion.

Were the copyright infringement opinions given you by a lawyer or lay person?

It was me reading more on there website as to what situation we could use the free icon.

with a ready date for launch I was just looking for potential hazards of being hit with a lawsuit.

You might be advised to consult with an attorney.
However I can tell you that in regard to certain graphics work such as this there is a huge “umbrella”.
I am not urging you to steal, what I am mentioning is that if you have a devil image and I have a devil image and your devil image doesn’t look like my devil image except in the fork when everyone knows that the fork…whew!!, see my point.
Also a lot depends on your audience and how many you expect to see it.
Small website, should not be a problem.
During a commercial at the Super Bowl, bring your lunch, they will come out of the woodwork.
In doubt consult attorney, you sleep better at night.
So will the attorney.
How do you know that your consultant won’t steal the image, you are still responsible.

LOL, Yes I know the paint company. In a nutshell this website will be viewed by a lot of people in the U.S. As for my consultant, I would only hope that he’s the kind of person that believes in giving and getting back. I know our budget for this little cartoon is only worth $50.00 to a $100.00 project, I can also offer my Flash Animation service’s as for a kind of bartering service if need be. The two images for samples that I used are from Animation Factory and the other one is a main cartoon for a website called neostream. Trust me, they will know if I use there logos. I would be thinking of a hip, clean lines devil and he would be placed around the website and in the company’s logo.

If all goes as expected for the site and money pours in, I would definitely take care of my contractor.

Robotalk.
Hardly know the man except for what I see here.
He does have commercial appeal in his images.
I ain’t gettin paid to say this either.

Thank you for reaffirming my original opinion.
To some artists being told they are a commercial success is sometimes not a
compliment, glad to see you took how meant.
Did M2 say he was looking at resumes?
