looking at buying Zbrush

Hello I was looking at buying ZbrushCore I have been using the Full Trial version for a week or so, I love it, it’s a very essay program to pick up, I am what you call a hobbits, so apparently Z brush core is geared towards me so the $200AUD is in my price range to buy. so I would kindly ask some questions, I am struggling to find actual info on what is in Zbrush core, other then what is on the Site

  • what brushes are added in Zbrushcore? I have been using the Trim dynamic and the clay build-up (What looks like the most used ones) I also like the crumble bush, planer as well, I wouldn’t mind trying the brushes out on the Demo before it runs out.

  • on the Web site it said that I can not add Zbrush brushes to zbrushcore fair enough, but I can add Zbrushcore bushes, dose this mean other bushers are available?

  • can I add my own Brush Alpha’s? really I if cant I’m going to struggle to buy it.

  • can I Bake Normals out from High to Low Poly? because there is no UV mapping at all?

  • is the decimation master available.? there is a statement on the site “ZBrushCore limits STL and VRML export file size to 200,000 polygons. Larger models must be decimated before these formats can be used”.

  • following that statement, I can only export 200,000 polys out to anther program, if I cant bake normal then I would struggle to get hi quality normal and would have get the smaller detail from textures, yes?

  • what dose “Document resolution:” mean it says Screen Size?

  • there is No retopolgy at all?

really I am looking at crating models that I can export out to UE4 and crate scene and lower poly assets to crate levels, I will mostly use blender to export into Ue4 and pick up the slack where Zbrushcore dose not do, such us UV mapping and I have Substance printer to texturing but I am worried that it dose not do what I want it to do as bender frustrates the living out of me and I am looking at crating some better quality Assets witch I have failed with blender, its funny though for the week or so I have already crated better looking rocks then I ever have in other 3d programs. and I can see why the full version commands the $1000AUD value

other questions

  • cant open ZBrush files, Why? I don’t understand the reason why I cant?

  • are there any other features at I might need that are not in the Core?

thanks for your time.

Also included (in the ZBrushes folder and accessible through LightBox) are: Deco3, Pen Shadow Sliver, PlanarCutDeep, ScalesFishB and Smooth Stronger.

If other people create such brushes and share them, they will be able to be loaded into your copy of ZBrushCore. It’s also possible that Pixologic will make brushes available. (I haven’t heard one way or the other, so that’s NOT a promise.)

Yes. You can import Alpha images and use them with your brushes.

Not with ZBrushCore. Creating any map requires UV’s. That doesn’t mean that you can’t export the highest and lowest levels, then use another program to do the normals.

No plugins are supported, including the ones that ship with ZBrush. ZBrushCore has its own built in, one-button decimation feature that will bring the model down to the 200K requirement.

STL and VRML are limited. OBJ is not.

The ZBrushCore document size is automatically set to fill your display. What you see is what you get.

Correct.

ZBrushCore is aimed at a specific target audience: hobbyists and other people where ZBrush is really all they need. People who use ZBrush together with other applications (such as animators and game artists) should go with ZBrush. If ZBrushCore could open ZBrush files then it would be very tempting for some studios to have a mix of licenses, with only a few specialists using ZBrush. That would cannibalize the ZBrush market rather than expand the customer base.

apart from the crimple brush and Tim adaptive and a few more its not to bad, I guess if they came out with a brushes pack I would probably buy it.
what dose the pen shadow do I don’t understand it?

sorry I don’t understand, could you explain some more? is this the amount of detail I can get into my model, shush as subdivision level, or is it a render detail or somthing, I have no idea

I have see somewhere that Zbrushcore well require a login and internet connection apron start-up, with a “offline mode”?
one more question,

Zbrush core has a limit of 2 PCs I can install on, is there a deactivation part (much like iTunes) where if change PC I can install Zbrush core onto my new PC with out eating into my limit of 2

questions - if I cant set Up UVs then how to I export any poly paint I have done onto anther program?
