Locking the tool

Does anyone know if in Zbrush 4 you can lock the tool so it doesn’t scale, rotate, or otherwise move while working on it if you double click by mistake with the pen on the Intuos 4?

I am very new at this program, I do not even know most of the commands for Zbrush.

in Preferences>Edit turn off Auto Select Subtool

this will make you have to manually choose your subtool, which can be easy if you name them right. Name each one starting with a different letter and you can select it by pressing N then that letter. if you have more subtools than letters you can add a number after each, for instance A1, A2 etc. Then you would press N A 1 to select A1. If you want to name them more descriptively, just do so after the letter number codes eg. B1 Body

Thank you for your reply, but I must have explained my issue incorrectly, while working on a tool (model) I experience a issue where by the program thinks I want to rotate, scale or move my tool. I was wondering if there was a way to lock the tool so it will not rotate, move or scale until unlocked?

Projection Master! =P

Seriously though…

do you have right-click navigation turned off in Preferences>interface? is your cursor over the model when this happens? Near the edge?

Yes my cursor is over the tool while this issue is happening.

how does projection master affect the locking of the tool, i looked at projection master and can not figure out how projection master locks the tool in place.

Further what exactly does right clicking navigation have to do with the tool moving if it happens while using the pen tool?

Like I said earlier, I am a bit lost in this area.

rightclick navigation lets you press the button (rightclick) on your stylus to move/rotate the model, this can be done while mousing over the model which may be the cause if you accidentally bump the right click.

Projection master was a joke. It drops the model to the canvas, making it impossible to rotate the model until you pick it back up again.

I am beginning to think I need to uninstall and reinstall Zbrush, I tried to turn off the right click in navigation and it didn’t help.

It would be nice if we simply held a command to lock the tool in place and must unlock it to move it, like pressing a key on the key board to unlock the tool so it can be moved.

Have you tried different settings in your Wacom Tablet Properties to see if it helps? For instance, I completely disabled my stylus side switch because I found it was more trouble than it was worth.
