Lockdown Action

Greetings from New Zealand!

We’re in complete lockdown over here, as many of you will be, so I’ve been throwing a lot of time into my Zbrush sculpture. Here are some of thing things I have made…

This next one was a loose collaboration with a friend… he uploaded an line drawing of a skull to Instagram, and invited anyone to finish it. I was inspired at 2am and decided to sculpt it, and take it a bit further.

I still have a few more to upload… stay safe out there everyone!

Another one… This one was a collaboration with a Polish artist, @tofitattooofficial on Instagram. We decided on a concept of floating masks, did a sketch each, and then sculpted the others sketch before switching to sculpt the masks. We did a render each of the finished sculpts, here is my one of the first…

And the second…

Thanks very much @javiermdvc! So everything was rendered in Keyshot, usually with a main light source overhead, and two rim lights on either side. I made the materials myself, i used a metal base with a diffuse or paint opacity layer for the patina. I then did the post in Photoshop.

all of them

Thank you so much @Behzad!!

Another one… I was in a bit of an unmotivated funk for a week or two there, damn lockdown, but I sculpted this stylized bust of a friend and got myself out of it.

I also rendered out a turntable of this one, although I’m not sure how to share it.

As always, thanks for looking!

Hello Zbrush community… it’s been a while. Here’s my take on Lucifer according to the description in Dante’s Inferno. I actually sculpted this as reference for my backpiece tattoo, as a bit of design collaboration with the tattoo artist. I really had fun with the beard, and was very inspired by Lambert-Sigisbert Adam during the process.

I’ve been very inspired to draw and create these last few lockdown days, so I thought I’d make a little tribute to one of Silent Hill’s most iconic creatures. In Silent Hill 2, released waaaaaay back on the PS2, these oddly contorted and sexualized nurses haunted decrepit hospital corridors, as a reflection of the protagonist’s subconscious sexual repression, frustration, and guilt, caused by watching his wife slowly succumb to a terminal illness. Cheerful stuff! Fans of surrealism and psychological horror, I urge you to give these games a go.

King Penitence… another personal project. Rendered in Keyshot
