Hello. Normally, when I have local symmetry active, I can deformation->mirror or mirror and weld around the center of the active subtool. It’s stopped working for some reason and I can’t figure out how to get it back. I am resorting to dragging the tool over to the world center to perform symmetric actions like mirror. It’s a real pain. I’m sure it’s something I accidently turned on/off but I can’t figure it out. Any ideas?
@Leon_Franzen pretty sure Deformation:Mirror is global only. Mirror and weld should respect Lsym. I can’t say what’s causing the problem you’re seeing because I can’t replicate it. However, until you get a better solution, try using Geometry Stager to make it easier. Set Target Stage to the position you want, Gizmo:Home to move the part to the world origin and then set Stager:Home. Mirror and Weld and then Switch Stage to flip it back to the Target position. Good Luck.
Hello @Leon_Franzen ,
@tobor8man is absolutely correct. Deformation > Mirror does not work with Local Symmetry. Mirror & Weld does, but it only works in one direction. So in some circumstances you may need to first Mirror the mesh to the other side of the relevant axis with Deformation> Mirror, perform the M&W, then Deformation> Mirror back to the original side.
As he mentioned, using Stager is another option, as is using NanoMesh with the Edit Mesh functionality.
