Lizard Warrior

Hi,

I’m a student from Belgium and I’m studying Game & Digital Design at PHL.
This is a character I’m working on for a school project… It’s a first in a series of characters, based on dungeons & dragons… This is one of the lizardfolk, warrior class. They are a religious people, with roots in egyptian culture.

I got a basic concept from a classmate who I work with… I made a modelsheet from the concept and then he was sculpted from a base mesh made in Maya… Rendered in ZBrush.

Still have to retopo and polypaint him… I’m also still having difficulties with clothing and folds so that’s not perfect yet :-).

Comments are welcome :-).

peace…

really great job on this guy! he has a lot of character. does he always walk upright? when i look at him, i get the feeling that he walks on all fours but sometimes postures up on the two legs.

great job! looking forward to seeing more from ya.

Thanks… I figure he’s doing the fighting and stuff upright but regular walking and running on all fours, cause his legs are kinda short for fast running and stuff :-), but more monkey-like running I guess…

Suppperrrrbbbbbbb Job, BEAUTIFULL!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I think you can take this character all the way. Clothing is tough to look good. Ryan Kingslien wrote a nice tutorial + a video in the November 3D World magazine on the subject. My only constructive crit would be to examine the feet. I would thicken the depth and perhaps make them slightly larger. Maybe others could chime in and give futher crits. Over all this guy has lots of potential.
Good work!

lovin this dude! Shaping up to be really amazing. Keep pushin!

@hyper1 : yeah the feet look a little flat… Didn’t really notice that myself  guess I’ll have to work on that a little bit…

@kptoons: thanks :slight_smile:

tweaked the feet a little and some other minor stuff… polypainted him in zbrush. Wish I could spend a little more time on it to work out all the minor details but time is running short  and my laptop is getting sloooow… Should retopo him but I’m having difficulties with finding the right edge flow and keeping everything quads… Any good tips for retopo are always welcome :).

Next up: model and sculpt his weapon (and background or scene to put him in), find a nice pose for him, render him out :). Tips and ideas are welcome as well!

here is a shot at a pose and composition :)… All rendered in zbrush and composited in photoshop…
my computer is getting way too slow so it’s hard to get good renders out of it.

Anyone know how I can disable the function where zbrush exports my files at half the size? in zbrush it looks awesome but in photoshop it’s always half the quality… if I render at double the size in zbrush then my pc gets way too slow
