Lighting while modeling

I thought I came across this topic in one of the online tutorials, but I can’t find it now. When I draw a sphere to begin modelling, a lighting effect is already applied (I’m assuming) because shadows are created while I’m contouring.

This can help you see the shape that you’re creating better, but sometimes it’s a hindrance because the shadow is dark and it throws off the symmetry you’re expecting to see, depending on the angle of the light.

Is there a “flat light” setting of some sort that can be used while modelling?

Thanks mucho!

hm, if you want it real flat, you can always switch on flat render mode (in the render menu, where you’d expect it to be), which ignores everything except colors and textures, no shading at all … or you can go into fast shader mode, where all the texturing is omitted, and even adjust your lighting there, however you like it … all the settings are under render / fast shader … i think

There is complete control over lighting…
Maybe what you might try is to increase your global ambient light level to ‘wash-out’ the shadows…

Thanks, guys. I’ll give it a whirl.
