Hi, we have a huge problem with Lightbox crashing the whole Zbrush upon using and selecting some Alpha brushes. Same alpha brushes are working fine with Zbrush 2018 which excludes possibility that there’s something wrong with Alpha brushes. I know this is a known issue but no answers so far. Attaching a gif so that you see it in action. So currently I just can’t use latest version of Zbrush since I’m using Lightbox quite a lot. Any ideas guys?
Hello @Defonten
Sorry you’re having some issues here.
When reporting serious technical issues, please lead with ZBrush version, OS, system specs to make sure you’re running at the required specs for zbrush, and full resolution screenshots or videos. An animated gif by itself is generally too low-rez to be much use.
For repeatable stability issues with an installation that can’t be fixed with a reinstall from a fresh installer (these can become corrupted, and can be re-downloaded from your My Licenses page–be sure to disable any antivirus during install), you will ultimately have to contact Support and make a ticket. Be sure to include the above information.
You may wish to do that at this time. Anything else I say is just going to be speculation, and we are not equipped to troubleshoot installation issues here.
The above said, some things to consider are:
-
I would avoid making assumptions like “it can’t be an issue with the alphas, because”. Things can change in between versions, and content created in earlier versions CAN become problematic. If the program is crashing when trying to display the same alphas every time, that has to be considered.
-
If the program is crashing or hanging on the same Lightbox content every time, does removing that content prevent the issue?
-
Those are some sizeable content folders. Does splitting that content up into a series of smaller folders allow Lightbox to display it without crashing?
Hey thanks for you reply and offering solutions.
Of course I tried fresh install having downloaded latest installer from My Licenses section, I tried it without any cutom UI/hotkeys/ third party plugins involved. I disabled my Antivirus.
I contacted support and they were already aware of this issue. So most probably and hopefully it should be fixed soon.
I will try splitting alphas to subfolders which you suggested, it might work. Thanks a lot for your help!
