Let The Games Begin :)

Hi there,

I have just started using Zbrush and have been playing around with the tools for a few weeks. Attached is a basic head mesh I played with, if you could please help critique my work, hopefully, it can only get better…

the head looks good so far. It’s missing the little changes that really make a face pop though. The tension in the bridge of the nose that happens when you cowl. The left side of his mouth should be raised higher because of the squint in the left eye. His brow is very sharp over the left eye, and from the side it seems to be very flat. His left cheek is missing the bunching of the underlying muscles that make that expression possible. Also, make sure you’re not moving the bone structure, just the muscles.

I would think the shaft on the spear would be longer as well.

All in all not a bad start, you’re definitely getting the tools, you just need more practice (don’t we all). Keep it up.

Thanks for the comment and advice. Will make some changes and post again…

After posting this image, I just realised as an artist why it so important to get reference material. I had all my friends round squinting and cowling so I get something to work with. Ha, the road to victory is long, but I like a challenge

Splitting time between learning Maya and Zbrush.

It is slow, but it is progress…
