Legit software?

I have been saving for zBrush and am close to my goal to buy a full version for home use (use zBrush at work). The thing is i found a copy of zBrush online for less than $50. Now i know too good to be true is often just that. However with the holidays and people needing money i have to stop and ask…

How do i tell if a copy of zBrush is legit and can i buy someone’s copy of zBrush and have it registered in my name?

If i can then i will get this copy, a graphics tablet, likely a monitor and prepay some bills. If not then I will just have to keep to the old budget and wait.

It depends on where the software is. Is it on a site like eBay or Amazon? Local classifieds? There are websites that sell cheap software that isn’t legit. I would be surprised if that offer is legit.

Well, being a first time dad to a now 15 month old… I have to take a chance and see. I am just unsure about how to go about verifying my purchase with Pixologic after i get it.

$25… worth the chance as i could really get a nice graphics tablet if it is legit. I wont be able to match the Cintiq 22HD i use at work but i will be able to upgrade my Wacom Graphire tablet.

I think it’s up to the seller to contact Pixologic and make arrangements to have the license transferred. Maybe you should contact Pixologic and see what the proceedure is before you get stiffed for $25 and get stuck with a useless, illegal copy of ZBrush.

ZBrush for <$50, of course it’s not legitimate.
The cost to transfer the license from one user to another is $49.99. If you buy it for $50 the original owner is making all of $0.01, not very profitable for them if it’s legitimate !!

I was in hopes of it being $25 and then i pay the license transfer fee. I figured with a academic version $50 or under might be plausible if i had to additionally pay the license transfer fee. Of course as the saying goes if it is too good to be true then it is.

The program required a keygen i didn’t even bother to download. Honestly i just want the academic version as i just use this at work and want it for home to use so i can spend more time in the software. Using hacked, cracked or stolen software to just not an option as i want Pixologic to get $ for the sale.

Even if i had the full version at home i wouldn’t be able to use it to make money as it would be against my work agreement. Ideally the academic version would allow me to do tutorials at home and expand what i can do with the software. Having a copy of the licensed software installed on a home computer (second install that is offered) is not allowed at work.

So, going through the list of people that sell the academic version to see what i can come up with. If anyone has any suggestions or places not listed on the site that are known to be legit please let me know.

Whew… long time ago…

Got my copy of zBrush from the Pixologic site a while back.

Funny to look back on some of these threads in my first few months of “first time daddy mode”.
