Layering subtools

Hey all, I am struggling with how to even word this question correctly for locating an easy answer online. I have a project with a 3 subtools, lets say the third subtool is a tongue and i want it to fit into the mouth but not clip over the mouth/lip bottom base. I want the bottom lip subtool to appear “forward” and the tongue not to overlap/clip over that subtool layer.

thanks in advance, I know there is a simple answer to this…

Hello @ndsugi

I’m not sure that I understand your question.

If you simply want to move the tongue subtool so that it does not clip through any geometry, make the tongue the active subtool and reposition it with Gizmo in Move mode.

If you want the tongue to have a certain pose in relation to the other geometry, then model it in that pose.

If you’d like the tongue to conform to the surface geometry of the other subtools but not clip through it, it would have to be modeled or posed in such a fashion. It may be the easiest to create the tongue in that position to start with, perhaps by creating it as a mesh extract from your other subtools. The extreme low poly geometry vs. the comparatively higher res tongue on display may make this difficult.
