Launching ZBrush 64 bit version by double-clicking ZPR files on 4R7 P3?

Hello there,

I want to use 64-bit version as the default application that will be launched when I double-click on any ZPR files.
But unfortunately I’ve accidentally chosen the 32-bit version as default during the installation.
I have no idea where to find the setting for this functionality.
Can you help me?

If you’re not afraid to edit your Registry, you can make it happen. Not for the faint at heart. Worked for me. Windows 7 Home Premium.

You shouldn’t need to edit the registry. You should be able to:

  1. Right+click on a ZPR file icon (on your Desktop or in Windows Explorer).
  2. From the popup menu choose “Open with…” then select “Choose Default Program…”
  3. In the dialog box that pops up, make sure the checkbox next to “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file” is checked, then press “Browse”.
  4. In the next dialog, navigate to the Pixologic|ZBrush 4R7 folder and make sure you select the ZBrush64.exe. Click OK to finish.

This is the method with Windows Vista but it should be basically the same for whichever version you are using.
