Lara Croft

Hey all,

So finally got around to getting on with some personal work. With all my time spent Working as n Artist/Being a dad/Being a writer/Running CGChain.com I barely get much time to myself these days. Nonetheless I’ve been cramming in a couple of lunch hours here and there to move this one on a little. Been doing it off and on for a while now. I just come back to it when I get the chance.
The gameplan is to build this up then take it into Low Poly. I’m thinking maybe would be fun as an Unreal character. Then I’ll just give it away. (Just don’t expect that to happen anytime soon :o )

Hope you like it. Have just taken a run at the plait, but this was really a test to get the thing right in theory. Gonna see if I do a better version tonight. Was fun figuring out the geometry for this.

EDIT – Re-up.

Lara looks awesome man. the boots already have lots of detail in them, cant imagine what you have to add besides texturing.

Hey that’s a really good model! Keep it up!

Man!!! realy great Lara! loved every thing congrats! keep updating!!!
Take a look in my Post too:http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=65523

Its always a challenge to post work on an icon, but I think you’ve pulled this one off well. I don’t know what your planning to do with the model, but since you have gone this far you might consider putting her in a complete set. You certainly have the skill to pull it off. No matter what you do keep posting.

really nice work. the boot design is awesome, the character sculpt is beautiful. If i could offer some constructive criticism, it’s that the proportions are just a tad off. I think her head is a little small, and the hands are too big. If you measure the hands in relation to the boots, the hands are almost the same size if not bigger than the feet. Her hands are also longer than her head.

Again great work man. would love to see some screencaps if you get her running around in game!

cheers !

Monte Nice to see you on here, Looking really good, the boots really do look awesome!

Awesome!!!
Lara is one of my fav characters…
I love how u put the details on the boots, is that in zbrush too???
Can’t wait for the finish one…

Thanks very much for the warm welcome folks. It’s about time I started posting here  Good to see you here too Lordrych.

roborama - Thanks very much for the criticisms. They were, as I am sure will appreciate, the type that an artist hates the most but also values the most. Why hates? Well because they are the type whereupon having recieved them you just know you are about spend the next couple of hours tweaking and going around in circles until your brain feels frazzled. Anyway, I’ve re-upped the image complete with your comments taken on board and executed. Hopefully, this will meet with you approval. Don’t know what I was thinking with the hands. They were blatantly too big.

It looks ok to me right now, but then I thought that last night. Anyway I’m sure tomorrow I’ll change my mind again.
Thanks ever so much for the help!

NightShocker - Thanks dude. Actually, the boots are a standard Max build,. which I’ve imported. I won’t be looking to add too many details. Just scuffs on the toecaps and also a weave texture to the socks.

Oh…this is great! How did I miss this thread  Very curvy shape and nice bosom. I think the length of the arm’s a tad too short compare to her lengthy legs. But overall very nice model. :+1:

looks great man. Only one thing…Her boobs are not big enough, lol j/k. Is it me or does it seem every game they come out with she keeps getting bigger and bigger in that region. lol

Really wonderful sculpt. The thing I like best is that she is just slightly heroically proportioned. You didn’t give her super boobs and a mini-waist. She is feasible and very hot! Great work.

It’s those proportions that have been driving me mad lately. Because of who she is (an icon, as hyper1 correctly states), she needs to have those original proportions feeding into the character, but at the same time, I think it can be done without having to hold on to the original Lara Design. Actually, it may surprise you to know that the only reference I used when I was designing her face was the original hi-res Lara from TR1!

SolidSnakexxx - You may be right. It’s tricky. I’m going to leave of until I know for sure, otherwise I’ll be tweaking this thing for ever.

adio38 and Gaboon - My initial design for her was less busty actually, but the general feeling of people was that it didn’t suit her. The push-up effect of the shirt pronounces them a bit more too. I guess I’ll do a final pass on them, and try to strike the right balance later on.

Hey. Welcome to the forum mate. Lara is looking good so far. I agree with the crits that have been made. Keep going :+1:

the update is great man! nice work. Also i sent those coments with all due respect. It is really easy to miss this stuff when you have your head down and you are cranking out work with such enthusiasm. I will agree heartily with some of the other comments that you have created something that is beautiful ,beleivable, and respectful to the original subject without having to throw huge boobs on there just because you can. class act all around

Started working on this again for a bit. Lately, I really like colouring as I sculpt. Lets me know how the thing is really coming along. I should say these are all Work in Progress. There are areas I need to improve and some I’ve done sod all on, hence my attempt not to show the ears too much at this point, which are only block-ins right now.

Something is wrong with shape of her eyes, fix that problem and u r on the god way.
Cheers,
Toni

Would you mind being a bit more specific? Gimme something I can do… :confused:small_orange_diamond:D

Which image are you noticing it in?

Her neck looks too wide in the front view. if you chisel her looks more she will look more feminie. I think thats wot she is lacking in the texturing and the modelling. A bit more feminity.

Hi Montecristo! Glad you’re continuing the sculpt, cause it’s a beautiful piece! Lookin’ forward to the updates! :+1:
